Did you know more people are enslaved right now than there have ever been in history?
Right now, parents are selling their little girls into slavery to pay off debts. Girls are kidnapped, forced into prostitution, drugged, brainwashed, humiliated and stigmatized to make it next to impossible for them to have a life outside of the brothel.
But what if I told you that WE can help free slaves from our living rooms? We can be modern day abolitionist by how we choose to spend our money.
How you spend your money is how you vote on what exists in the world. – Vickie Robin
This quote has been stuck in my head since I saw it on Instagram. These words have been shaking up my perspective on my impact in the world.
I realize the easy, common stance on major social issues (poverty, human trafficking, maternal health) is that someone else will do something about it. Someone else is more equipped, more passionate.
Someone else may be more equipped, more passionate and already helping, but friends, it’s going to take all of us. This isn’t the time to sit back and let others lead. Social injustice is our problem, too.
It’s our problem because it’s His heart.
Let’s let our money change our world!

3 Organizations Empowering Women to Leave the Sex Trade
Thistle Farms is a sanctuary for healing for women survivors of abuse, addiction, trafficking and prostitution… …We want to change a culture that still allows human beings to be bought and sold. We believe that in the end, love is the strongest force for change in the world.
Thistle Farms is located in Nashville, TN, which is considered the 2nd largest hub of human trafficking in the United States. This awesome store is so much more than a business. It’s a place of healing, growth, education, and empowerment.
My Favorite Thistle Farms Product:
Bath Salts – My current favorite is their clarity soak!
Freeset is a fair trade business offering employment to women trapped in Kolkata’s sex trade. We make quality jute bags and organic cotton t-shirts, but our business is freedom!
I have a couple Freeset bags, which I adore. I love knowing that my bag is fair trade AND empowering women escape the sex trade. One of the biggest obstacles for those rescuing enslaved girls and women is that they have very few options once they are free. And sadly, many time the women return to the brothels.
PUNJAMMIES™ are loungewear bottoms made with hope by women in India who have escaped human trafficking. Whenever you purchase PUNJAMMIES™, you invest in the freedom and dignity of these women and girls who are working to forge a new life for themselves and their children.
I pretty much live in pajama pants, so I am all about these! This would be an awesome gift to spoil a new mom, a sweet friend, or really anyone. They make men’s and kid’s pj’s, too!
If I had to choose a favorite it would be this one:
