I start a ridiculous amount of conversations with…
“So I was listening to this podcast…”
My friends like to give me all kinds of grief over it, and I’m pretty sure they assume all I do is listen to podcasts. But here’s the thing… I have podcast rules—both about when I can listen and what I listen to.
Here are my self-imposed rules:
- I can only listen to podcasts when…
- folding laundry
- I only listen to podcasts that:
- have an engaging, confident host that doesn’t interrupt too much (Awkwardness makes me cringe. In other words, I’d be a horrible host!)
- teach me something, open my eyes to a new perspective, OR make me laugh
You see, I have high podcasts standards. (Because so little time, so many podcasts.)
All that to tell you that I truly think that these seven episodes are the best of the best. They are the ones I’m constantly telling my friends they need to listen to RIGHT NOW!
A little disclaimer: many of the podcasts below have the title “mom” in them. But the episodes I have chosen—my absolute favorites that I share with all my friends regardless of their season—aren’t for just for moms. Actually, quite a few of the guests are single and/or don’t have children. So please don’t let the title of the podcast stop you from listening to these awesome must-listen episodes!

7 Must-Listen to Podcast Episodes for Christian Women
1. Mom Struggling Well #58 Journey Toward Healing with Brandi Lea
In this podcast Emily talks with Brandi Lea about trauma, specifically dealing with your own and how to walk beside someone who is struggling. I have pages upon pages of notes from this podcast. But the one thing I can’t stop thinking about is whether or not I’m a safe person. Are you?
Who is this episode for? Everyone—literally everyone who has ever encountered another human being.
2. The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey #76 Sally Lloyd-Jones
If you don’t know who Sally Lloyd-Jones is, you need to stop right now and go check out The Jesus Storybook Bible (and if you don’t have kids the grown-up version is The Story of God’s Love for You)! Jamie (who’s my hands-down favorite podcaster) interviews Sally about her childhood, her creative process, and the importance of excellence in writing for (or working with) children.
Who is this episode for? Creatives, fans of Sally Lloyd-Jones, and anyone who knows a child. 😉
3. The Practice Podcast :: Stories of Resurrection in Religion with Sarah Bessey
The Practice put on a whole Stories of Resurrection series. Sarah Bessey’s story of resurrection in religion is my favorite. (Although, I recommend checking the others, too!) I love Sarah’s faith journey—probably because it reminds me a lot of my own. Although, she is, admittedly, I a lot wiser and farther down her path than I am.
Who is this episode for? Those who’ve struggled (or are struggling) with their own faith journey (or know people who have/are).
4. Inspired to Action ITA102 Fighting Insecurity with Annie F Downs
In this interview, Kat Lee talks with Annie Downs about Annie’s struggle with insecurity and what she does to fight it. (The Inspired to Action intro is VERY mom-oriented. If that is hard for you to listen to or triggering at all, either fast forward a bit or skip this one. <3)
Who is this episode for? Any woman (no matter age, motherhood or marriage status, work status, etc…) that struggles with insecurity.
5. God Centered Mom Ep 133 How to #SquareUp in Battle :: Jan Greenwood
In this episode, Jan Greenwood talks about her experience with fighting stage IV breast cancer. She shares so much wisdom on going to battle with God regardless of what you are fighting.
Who is this episode for? Anyone who finds themselves fighting for something… physical healing, emotional healing, a restored marriage, etc…
6. The Simple Show Ep. 24 Life in Cambodia with Marla Taviano
I love Tsh and The Simple Show. Rarely, do I come away from her podcast without a practical nugget or an a-ha moment. But this episode, friend, I still remember where I was when I was listening to it—and bawling about the beauty and Sovereignty of God. (I was driving to Walmart if you’re wondering…)
Who is this episode for? Those questioning God’s “big” plans for their lives. Those wondering what it looks like to pack up your family and move to the other side of the world. And those who need a really great story of God’s power!
7. The Upside Down Podcast Ep. 003 Hashtag Blessed
So The Upside Down Podcast is a new podcast by five Christian women who have “unscripted conversations on life and faith.” And I am hooked. In episode 3, they discuss what it means to be blessed, how Christians use #blessed for things that are really #privileged, and what practical ways we can express gratitude without “othering” others.
Who is this episode for? Every woman. Period.
So yeah, those are my seven must-listen podcast episodes for every woman! Listen to them and let me know what you think. You can always email me at [email protected] or leave a comment here!
Two Questions for You:
