Using Our Passions to Love Others Well
Using our passions to love others is what I’m passionate about. I believe each and every one of us possesses unique passions, talents, and gifts that can be used to love others well and glorify God.
I know you can take what you have discovered about yourself and together with women across the globe, change the world.
Friend, we have access to the Holy Spirit, a body of believers, the internet, and Christ, who petitions on our behalf. There is nothing that can stop our pure desire to love others well.
So what does that mean for us? What does that look like for you—exhausted, changing diapers, refereeing sibling disputes, and dreaming of 5 seconds of peace?
Let me ask you this: who can you love right now with your passion?
Do The Next Right Thing
You believe in fair trade, but you feel too small to make a difference. Just begin. Start researching. Share your research online.
Starving children absolutely break you, but you are so busy feeding and clothing and diapering your own, how will you ever serve? Just begin. Research locally. Can you pick up a few extra cans for a food bank? help spread the needs of organizations via your social media?
No matter what it is there is always something you can do.
4 Ways to Use Your Passions to Love Others Well
1. Pray – Prayer is an action step. Pray for the people you want to love well. Lift up their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. Ask God to show you how to love them well.
2. Learn – We have an amazing resource that no other generation before had the blessing of using to love others well—the internet. There is truly no excuse not to learn more about what you are passionate about. While it may take years to become proficient in a subject, you can start today.
3. Do – All the knowledge in the world won’t help us unless we are willing to move. Love is an action verb. What are you going to do with your passion? This can be as simple as donating to your local food bank or baking brownies for a new neighbor or handwriting an encouraging note to a struggling mom.
Don’t worry if it’s big enough. Let God take care of miracles; let’s just be willing to move when led.
4. Share – Word of mouth, social media, YouTube videos, whatever form you choose just share. Share what you are learning. Inspire others with your passion. The “do part” of this equation can be overwhelming for those of us who are already stretched thin, but sharing is doing. Let your friends and family know how they can help.
Can you imagine the kind of impact you would have if you all worked together to love well?
Every day we have the choice to use our passions and talents to further God’s Kingdom or our own.
Friend, I’m right there with you in this struggle. That exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed momma I mentioned above is me. I cried to my husband the other night, “When will my stuff be important?” Most days I feel defeated, but I keep showing up here. It doesn’t seem like much.
It’s a small, small offering, but God can use our tiny flames of passion to spark an uncontrollable wildfire.
Sweet friend, how are you going to love others well this week?
Go love well
